You bet your bacon: Denhay Farms

Some local producers are really worth shouting about. And here’s one of them. In the first of a series of posts about fantastic British producers, award-winning Dorset producer Denhay Farms explains what they do best, why they do it and other interesting facts like whether they’re brown sauce or ketchup kind of people.

Ellen Streatfeild is the daughter of former owners George and Amanda, who has grown up on the farm and now works there.

Brown sauce or ketchup? Brown sauce!

Best thing about foodies? Their passion

Your guilty eating pleasure? Denhay butter, spread as thick as cheese, on toast!

Your death row meal? My husband’s wild mushroom and bacon risotto!

Food hero, other than yourself? My parents – their dedication to the food industry and their passion for food has motivated me throughout my life

Fondest food memory? Eating octopus for the first in the Philippines when I was 6 and my parents not telling me what it was until afterwards – pretty shocking at the time, but I loved it!

One ambition for your company? To get everyone in the country eating Denhay bacon!

Note: I love promoting worthy producers but I never accept payment of any kind for anything that appears on this site. Receipt of samples is no guarantee that I will write about you: I only blog about food and producers that I love.
